Mission at Blue Ridge Presbyterian

My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18

We are a small church but we make a significant impact on our community.  Our community focus is Hunger and Housing:

Tuesday’s Table - nourishing home-cooked meals are provided to Greene County residents in need.  We are committed to 4 dinners per year, primarily funded by the 5 cents per meal offering.  Approximately, 250 individuals are fed at each meal.

Souper Bowl Sunday - neighborhood/community collection of food and money for the Food Pantry.  This year 725 pounds of food was collected.

Greene County Habitat for Humanity - quarterly commitment led by the Men’s Group to help refurbish homes in need of repair.  Both church and community volunteers are encouraged to participate.  Two homes were targeted in May.

Greene County Food Pantry -  collections in the church narthex from members.  Every few months there is a different focus on donations, e.g. cereal, peanut butter and jelly.

Haiti Mission Trip - Several members of BRPC have joined the Building Goodness Foundation on trips to Haiti. A recent trip involved installing rain barrels and down spouts at a school and put in concrete footings for a depot.

Presbyterians from Charlottesville Doing Mission Work:
July 2014 in SouthWest VirginiaFrom July 20–26, 2014 , a group of youth, adults and families from our Blue Ridge congregation lead Charlottesville Presbyterians to the heart of coal country in Dickenson County, Virginia to do house repairs, and worship in Christ’s name.

They formed groups to work on home improvement work in an economically-distressed region of Virginia and living together as a Christian group of women, men and youth.
