My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18
We are a small church but we make a significant impact on our community. Our community focus is Hunger and Housing:
Tuesday’s Table - nourishing home-cooked meals are provided to Greene County residents in need. We are committed to 4 dinners per year, primarily funded by the 5 cents per meal offering. Approximately, 250 individuals are fed at each meal.
Souper Bowl Sunday - neighborhood/community collection of food and money for the Food Pantry. This year 725 pounds of food was collected.
Greene County Habitat for Humanity - quarterly commitment led by the Men’s Group to help refurbish homes in need of repair. Both church and community volunteers are encouraged to participate. Two homes were targeted in May.
Greene County Food Pantry - collections in the church narthex from members. Every few months there is a different focus on donations, e.g. cereal, peanut butter and jelly.
Southwest Virginia Mission Trip - each June, volunteers renovate a home and not only improve the living quarters of a family but developed a relationship with the homeowners and enjoyed Christian fellowship.
Haiti Mission Trip - last fall, 2 members of the church, as well as 2 others in the community, joined the Building Goodness Foundation installed rain barrels and down spouts at a school and put in concrete footings for a depot.
