LeadershipRev. Richard Haney, Pastor
Blue Ridge welcomed the Rev. Richard Haney as interim pastor in February, 2014. Richard has served churches in Central Virginia since 1979. He spent 10 years as associate pastor at Third Church Richmond and then was called by Hanover Presbytery (1989) to be the organizing pastor at Swift Creek in Midlothian, VA (1990-2003). He has a special place in his heart for new churches. He has served as an interim pastor in four congregations in Virginia over the last ten years.
In his associate pastor role he took teams on mission trips to Belize, Brazil, Morocco, Tanzania, Croatia, and Panama. Other mission travel and teaching has taken him to Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, South Africa, Singapore, the Philippines, Dominican Republic, Mexico. He also has taught "Evangelism" several times at Union Presbyterian Seminary as a guest instructor.
Rev. Haney received a B.A. in Religion from UNC-Chapel Hill, M.Div from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (S Hamilton, MA), and is currently a PhD candidate at Middlesex University (London) via the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies.Richard likes traveling, reading, fly-fishing and eating/cooking. He reads poetry and philosophy for pleasure as well as fiction, theology and history. He enjoys science fiction and fantasy novels. He and his wife, Pam, have three daughters and sons-in-law with growing families, including five grandchildren.
Kris Cushman, Music Director
Kris came to BRPC in 2004, and has been teaching piano and accompanying musicians for over 40 years. She has a BS in Mathematics, with a minor is Music, and an MS in Counselor Education from the University of Wisconsin. In addition to teaching in her private studio, Kris plays harp for Hospice of the Piedmont in the "Music by the Bedside" program. She is also a harpist for weddings and other special events in the area. Kris and her husband, Dave, have two married daughters and two delightful grandchildren.
Leslie Bailey, Church Administrator
Leslie has served in numerous capacities of leadership for Blue Ridge since 2004, including serving as Clerk of Session and Finance Chair. She has transferred her experience in those areas to the growing realm of Church Administrator. Leslie has a BA in Education, with a minor in Music, from Grove City College. Outside of her work in finance and administration for the church, Leslie says " I enjoy sacred and secular music performance, cooking, travel and needlework, in addition to being the proud mother of two great young adult children."
Pat Barbara, Child Care Provider
"Miss Pat" is our child care provider at the 11 a.m. service. Pat teaches preschool at Clark Elementary in Charlottesville. Pat grew up primarily overseas and graduated from high school in Alexandria Egypt from Schutz American School, originally a Presbyterian missionary school. She says, “I enjoy working with the children during the 11:00 service. I am closely related to the piano/harp player, she is my sister! Blue Ridge is a great
family in Christ!” Pat has two grown children, Gina, and Joey, who is currently serving in the military.
